This fucking thing is hijacking the notebook which is needed for business. Every time i go to look up information on it, they state that it's a fake antivirus program that lists fake viruses and malware which i got that much. And that the antivirus program makes it so you have to purchase the program to get rid of the fake malware. The thing is it hijacks your system and screws with it to the point that you can't do much else. I'm trying to get superantispyware loaded on but it wont leave the system alone long enough to do it.
What happens is this "program" is hidden in a lot of websites so when you go to it and the alert comes popping up, if you don't pay attention to it, you can hit the wrong button and install the shit on your computer. This is the biggest headache. It's been a long time since i've had this kind of problem.

| I sent him a link to the antispyware site and he's on AOL's homepage trying to type in his screen name and his keyboard is jumbled up! He types in a J and it comes out as a 1!

Or try a system restore to an earlier date before you installed the program.
In XP you can restore to an earlier date by going to Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore

I went to bleepingcomputer and was suspicious of the program they were offering as a fix. Do you think it's OK?

Jimmy's advice is good, but be aware that it doesn't always work.
I got slammed with it a couple of months ago and ended up formatting my hard drive and reinstalling Windows...fortunately, my documents and stuff were backed up on a removable hard drive, so I didn't lose anything except time.
If you have the backups, and after following Jimmy's advice/links you find it's still there, sometimes it's easier just to reinstall Windows from scratch.
You're right, though...it's a fucking bitch of a bit of malware...I'd like to see it's perpetrators strung up with piano wire around their fingers so they can never type code again! *grrrr*

So you think it's OK to trust their fix? I don't know bleeping computers the reason i didn't go with it. I was suspicious the way they presented the fix. Of course, this after dealing with antivirus2009.
Why do they do that? I was on ebaumsworld last night looking through their games and on every game in the comments section someone said, "This game is really sweet. if you like role playing games, check this one out" and it had a link to a virus. Why would someone do that? I can only suspect it's financial. That person must be paid to do that? What an asshole.

| I just spoke to John and he said it's gone now but his keyboard is still screwed up. Even after restarting it. They jumbled his keyboard up. So when he types a letter it comes out as a number or a symbol. Nothing types as it's supposed to. I've never even heard of that.

No, I've not seen that happen. Is it a "normal" keyboard? The reason I ask is that some keyboards - some wireless ones, ergonomic ones, etc - come with specific device drivers (a keyboard's "driver" is normally just part of the computer's BIOS). If so, it's possible the device driver has been corrupted and needs to be reinstalled.

| I once visited a website where the Antivirus 2009 popup came up. Although there were two bottons to click, "OK" and "Cancel," clicking "Cancel" will do the same thing as "OK." Either way, it will start the install process. I learned that after clicking "Cancel." When it didn't stop, I knew it was malware. I hit Alt+Ctrl+Delete and shut down my browser. That stopped it. I used a manual instruction how to clean it up, but there was nothing to clean up because it was apparently still only downloading and not installing yet when I stopped it.

Well, i didn't know if that would make a difference. I just spoke to him again and he's fixed the problem altogether. What he did to fix it is beyond me. He said he had the number lock on but that wouldn't have much to do with that. Maybe it just sorted itself out? LOL - anyway, thanks for your assistance.

Oh boy. Well it's a notebook. A Vaio. make sure numbers lock is not on (if it is, press the 'fn' (usually next to your start button or 'ctrl' button -- and on laptops number lock is usually by or on teh 'scroll' key) and then numbers lock to get it off) and see if that works.

Yeah...I'd forgotten she said it was a notebook. I do that to myself all the time, because I switch from the notebook keyboard in the classroom to a USB keyboard when I'm in my office.

*rubs your poor forehead* What the hell? If the number's lock is on on a notebook, it will jumble the keyboard so when i type a "J" it turns out a "1"?

If you look closely at your notebook keyboard, you'll see that the right side of the main alphabetic characters has smaller numbers/symbols on it. They correspond with the number pad on a standard keyboard. The idea is that if you're just entering numbers, you can turn on the "NUMLOCK" key and use the right-hand side of the ordinary keyboard as a number pad.
This isn't a particularly great photo, but it should suffice:

Very strange. Did you just take that picture? You should snap a shot of yourself and let me see. I only have the one picture of you. I've never gotten to see any others.
