Here are some YouTube clips of Badfinger. Most people don't recognize their name, but they usually recognize their songs.

Ah ha! I knew I'd guilt you to stay a little longer.
Badfinger has a great story. If you like non fiction and have any interest in The Beatles at all, you'd probably like the book as well. But you might have to wait until it's back in print. The original copies with music CDs are selling for a couple hundred bucks right now on ebay.

Knock down the old grey wall
Be a part of it all
Nothing to say
Nothing to see
Nu-thing to do
If you would give me all
Yes I would give it to you
Nothing would be
Nothing would be
Nothing would be-e-e. . .

| Did you check the last link? They actually wrote that song, though most people think Harry Nilsson wrote it.

Yikes, can't afford to squandor a hundred bucks on a book right now. But yeah, I love non-fiction and I like the whole "rags to riches to rags" pemise of Badfinger.
And who doesn't have an interest in The Beatles?

Yeah, those songs I recognize (and like), but I don't remember ever hearing the name.

I set out writing a book about them. I hired a co-author to assist me (who turned out to be more meticulous than I) and I got a bit frustrated with how long things were taking. I turned the project over to him but continued to help with interviews, research and editing. It was published in 1997, called Without You: The Tragic Story of Badfinger. It received very good reviews and was voted the #2 Rock Biography of 1997 by some association of British music critics (Record Collector Magazine).
It was a lot of fun and I am proud of how it came out, although the actual writing was basically done by the other author.

Well, Nilsson started out solely as a songwriter. He wrote the song "One" that Three Dog Night made a hit out of. Agreed, he wasn't terribly successful at it and had better luck with other people's material.

Exactly. That was the impetus for writing the book. It was actually kinda surreal for me and the (eventual) author of the book. The name Badfinger was fairly well known in the early 1970s. i could mention it to many people and they would recognize the name without any trouble. But it apparently didn't stick, because 10 years later the same people would scratch their heads and say "Huh? Never heard of them."

The acoustic-guitar duet George does at that concert of "Here Comes The Sun" is with Badfinger's guitarist, Pete Ham.Last edited on Sat Nov 15th, 2008 01:11 am by Ronson

"sun sun sun here it comes..."??
i got the dvd for it about a year ago, i will check it out . . . weird seeing it after hearing it so many times. it triggers alot of memories. .
watching it now, i think, all those guys look so strung - George Harrison, esp, looks almost like as a street person, a meth-addict, so tired and skinny-looking
- and they all were almost like gods back then . . .

I remember somewhere in the early 80s or so hearing a song by Joe Jackson called "Stepping Out." It sounded so familiar and it bugged the hell out of me, but no one else at the time seemed to know what I was talking about.
Then, listening to a classic rock station, I heard Badfinger, and it all came back to me.
I don't know why Badfinger isn't remembered today. It sure isn't because their songs aren't catchy!
-- A2SG, hell, joe jackson thought it was catchy enough to rip off.....
