Phantom is crap.

Save your money and watch something by Auber, Donizetti, or Meyerbeer.

Jesus Christ! Take it easy, Belvedere. :(

Weber's Phantom is good fun. BTW,  I'll be an understudy for the role of Benjamin in the Ohio River Valley Light Opera production of  Joseph and the Technicoler DreamCoat

Don't listen to them, Sal.  Phantom is a great show!

(Assuming it's the Webber version...there are others.)

My wonderful night at the theatre!:)

The sets were spectacular.

Christine was BRILLIANT!

The Phantom wasn't quite as good as when Rob Guest  played him (may he RIP) but still GREAT nonetheless.

Raoul was HOT!:D

And I loved every minute of it.  Just a beautiful night, the music always brings tears to my eyes and I wanted to sing along with all of the songs but of course you can't do that otherwise you'll upset the other patrons who paid to come and hear the wonderful professionals not me, muwahaha.:P

But I couldn't help but sing when 'Masquerade' came on, Sally was singing to that one because it's my fave!  Heck, I felt like jumping on stage and grabbing one of those masks and twirling around with the dancers, lol, oh man I love that piece.:D

And when Phantom sang to Christine that he loved her at the end, my eyes bubbled up and tears trickled out, waaaaah.:(

I agree!  I really liked the movie too.  And yes, of course it was the Webber production and it was very slick, just fantastic.  I didn't know there were other versions but I doubt I'd be interested in those, it's the Webber one that is the best, that music is magnificent.

It is a great show and I have now decided that Andrew Lloyd Webber is a masterful genius.:D

Such blasphemy!  LOL.;)

I think it's TERRIFIC!  I love Andrew Lloyd Webber.  I'm not a fan of normal Opera, it's snorseville to me, I prefer musicals and the Ballet, and of course just theatre plays in general.

The Russian Ballets Nutcracker is back in Auckland and I might try and squeeze that in tonight if I can get a last minute booking (it's the last night).  I saw it when it was here last time and it was fantastic.

I saw the (newer) movie and hated it. I also can't stand Opera, but then again, I'm uncultured.  :D

I agree.  Masquerade was always my favorite number too.

On a related, but not too closely related, note, I recently saw the 10th Anniversary Dream Cast Concert of Les Miserables.  The show, of course, was incredible, but I about flipped when I saw something at the end.

After the show, and after the congratulatory (and self-congratulatory) comments by the producers, they did a version of The Songs of Angry Men sung by a representative of everyone who played Valjean in all the countries around the world.  A great tribute, no question...but when they got to Japan, guess who was Japan's Valjean?  Chairman Kaga of Iron Chef!

-- A2SG, man, that guy gets around.....
