Hmmm, interesting read. What else should we expect from the anti-Christ? And Politico is not even associated with Fox News in any way, as far as I can see.

I don't believe it is associated with Fox. As a Libertarian, I can appreciate this piece. If I linked to Fox on such a comparison I would be labelled a Republican or as a defender of Bush. I am neither, so it's nice to see something independent lambasting both prez's.

This article asks the question "How does Obama get away with it," but I think its premise - that Obama gets away with it - is flawed.
The article talks about a lot of minor political details with no real lasting impact. You know how people interpret those? Opponents of the politician raise hell about them, and supporters of the politician shrug them off.
That's true for Obama, and it's true for Bush. When we learn that Obama spent four hours in New Orleans before going to a $3 million fundraiser, Republicans yell "He's more concerned with his political career than the needs of the people," and Democrats shrug and say "He's busy, and he's got to do what it takes to get elected."
And when we learn that Bush spent an unprecedented amount of time on his ranch, Democrats yell "He's not taking the job seriously," and Republicans shrug and say "He's got to unwind, and besides, he can still take phone calls at the ranch."
The reason Bush's popularity plummeted seems pretty simple in retrospect. He started a questionable war, which terrified and infuriated the left. When he saw his numbers plummeting, he tried to move left a little bit to compensate, which infuriated the right, and pretty soon he was left with this little 20% sliver of support lodged somewhere between "pretty conservative" and "very conservative."
It was Iraq that did him in, plain and simple. Sure, we Democrats had an enormous array of complaints about him, but in the end, it was Iraq.

My interpretation of this article: While Fox News ignored Bush's transgressions, CBS, ABC, (MS)NBC and CNN highlighted them. While Fox News highlights Obama's transgressions, CBS, ABC, (MS)NBC and CNN tend to ignore them. It's all in the numbers. The majority is giving Obama a pass while the majority held Bush's feet to the fire.
On C*RM, whenever I criticize Obama I start getting all sorts of attacks against Bush in response. My reaction is "Who cares? I didn't care for Bush either." I also get the reverse when I defend an Obama action (which is rare, I must admit). So this article represents what *I* see; Both Bush and Obama goofing off, but Bush got more flack for it.
The reason Bush's popularity plummeted seems pretty simple in retrospect. He started a questionable war, which terrified and infuriated the left. Oh, I agree. That is without a doubt my biggest complaint, and is also why I refused to vote for McCain in 2008 and went with the Libertarian candidate (I can't even remember the guy's name anymore). McCain said he was going to stay the course in Iraq. That was unacceptable to me.

I know what they call a Big Mac in Iceland; "Extinct."

ETA: In both the URL and in the photo caption, the word "quit" is misspelled as "quite." Do not be alarmed.
