Good lord, what century is this?
A Louisiana justice of the peace said he refused to issue a marriage license to an interracial couple out of concern for any children the couple might have. Keith Bardwell, justice of the peace in Tangipahoa Parish, says it is his experience that most interracial marriages do not last long.
Neither Bardwell nor the couple immediately returned phone calls from The Associated Press. But Bardwell told the Daily Star of Hammond that he was not a racist. “I do ceremonies for black couples right here in my house,” Bardwell said. “My main concern is for the children.”
…If he does an interracial marriage for one couple, he must do the same for all, he said.
How’s that for a slippery slope?

Through the Internet, I met someone from California who told me that she was white but her husband is black. She lives in the Sacramento area of Cal., and said that interracial marriages were fairly common there. Her children are all grown up, and have never really experiences any kind of discrimination for the mixed racial background. However, when I brought up the subject of the American south, she stated emphatically - we never go there, and neither will any of our children, because we know what it is like there.

Things are just weird in the south. Interracial couples abound where I'm from.

It might bear mentioning that three Southern states - Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida - voted for the child of an interracial marriage in the last Presidential election.
That fact makes me a little dubious of the judge's claim that interracial marriages are bad for the children they produce.

It was a Louisiana justice of the peace who is at issue here, is it not? Don't the natives of that state pronounce the name, Lose-iana?

It is pronounced: Na'lans Loosiana, last time I was there.

It's a pretty diverse state. Strange to think that the same state could produce a "interracial marriage is wrong" judge and the world's largest "show us your tits" festival.

Strange
Louisiana is known for good-old-boyism. Heterosexism is a cohort of racism. Not strange at all.

Some of my students are writing their research papers about the topic of interracial relationships, and I am showing them this. As international students they have a hard time seeing below the smiley surface of American life. They think 1964 was a million years ago and that we all live in racial harmony now. Yeah, well not quite.
And as stupid as that JP looks, that's how stupid the anti-gay-marriage folks will look 30 years from now. The Bible was quoted to support racial discrimination too, especially "miscegenation."

Our National Blacke Folke, who voted down The Gay as they voted in The Obama, seem not to be aware that if good ol' boys are allowed to discriminate against one part of society (The Gay) then they become emboldened and go more parts of society (for now, The Nigra and The Nigra-Lovers.)
They have indeed forgotten where they came from if they think that Maw and Paw Coonass wouldn't kick them in the ass with one foot and kick The Gay in the ass with the other one if they are allowed to keep getting away with it.
Down here in the Sunshine Hate --we already have a State DOMA that outlaws same-sex marriage-- the religious right got away with voting to never, ever allow a civil union or domestic partnership of any kind, & we now have a vote coming up on whether hetero couples should be legally required to take a 6-months class on Family Values before they can get a marriage license... said vote accompanied by a vote to abolish divorce for any reason, follwed by a vote to decide if oral contraceptives should be made illegal (because the egg is a person.)
Nobody seems to realize that if you give conservatives an inch, they'll take a mile.
I think it's wonderful that the Loseranna judge won't marry interracial couples because it could "harm the children." Maybe the dumbass blacks will finally stop to think that if we don't all stand together, we'll get knocked down separately.

Poor Merlin, still trying to tie the plight of negros together with gays. Give it up, Merlin, that old dog won't hunt any more.

Just dropped in to see if anything has changed. I'm sorry to say that it's the same (SOS). However, there is only you, and Merlin arguing with mostly trolls now. That's pretty sad, eh?

Are interracial marriages bad ? Barrack Obama...nuff said.
So, you're on the record against interracial marriage and for a judge deciding which man can marry which woman?
Poor Merlin, still trying to tie the plight of negros together with gays. Give it up, Merlin, that old dog won't hunt any more.
On the one hand, we have one group being denied rights because of a majority that thought of them as lesser. On the other hand we have... another group being denied rights because of the same thing.
Asside from your bold declaration that said dog will not sniff out prey for a human owner, do you have any evidence or argument to back that up?

A person cannot choose his/her parents or gender. I was born a white man, and there's nothing I can do about that, even if I wanted to. However, practicing homosexuality is a behavior one chooses to partake in...or not.

Oh, huh. I'm so stupid, I actually believed that manonfire was saying of course inter-racial marriage was alright, because, look at Barack Obama, how good he turned out. Sorry, my bad. I was giving him credit for having a sensible thought in his head.
So manonfire, tell me when you made the choice to be straight instead of gay? How did that go, as you recall it?

And why am I not surprised: manonfire's supposed quotation from Thomas Jefferson is a fraud too. It amazes me how often I find him in error and how easy it is. Google is your friend, manonfire. If you weren't basically a liar, you would care about whether you were bearing false witness against a founding father.
http://wiki.monticello.org/mediawiki/index.php/When_governments_fear_the_people,_there_is_liberty...(Quotation)
The actual quotation appeared in 1994.
I thought to question it because I know Jefferson is a smart man, and I know that a government that fears the people is not likely to lead to a state of liberty but of chaos and repression. Saddam Hussein feared the people. Stalin feared the people. Karzai fears the people. This is not a good thing!
When the people elect the government, neither side has any cause to fear the other.

First, you completely misunderstood the point of what I said (as usual)
Second, aren't you supposed to be boycotting this "godless board" since John handed you your ass in your hat in the Freemason thread?
Third, the only trolls I have conversations with on AARM are carol and now you. What others do is their own business and doesn't concern me.
Fourth, could you PLEASE research ANYTHING before you come on here and post stuff that a 5th grader could prove wrong?

lol, yep, nothing has changed at all here. A small, but loud group, of liberal fascists who have absolutely no tolerance for any political or social point of view to the right of Karl Marx.
Let me get the hell out of here.
