I dont think you understand your religion very well, hiram.  Perhaps you should talk to your pastor about it.

I've never heard or read that teaching before.

So God hears the prayers of Hindus?  Atheists?  Everybody?

It is a Biblical teaching, as was demonstated to you. The problem with you and Carol is that you simply don't listen to the "correct" televangelists.

They should listen to my good buddy, Dr. Bailey Smith, former president of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Hiram: Not in any church I've attended.

The problem with you and Carol is that you simply don't listen to the "correct" televangelists

Hiram: Really? Which ones are you listening to?

I agree. Bailey was a great preacher and he was never ashamed to proclaim the truth that God doesn't hear the prayer of a Jew.

It was clearly demonstated to you by Merlin above. The scriptural teaching is quite plain. Argue with the scriptures.

Carol I have heard this teaching umpteen different times in evangelical circles. It is something that is taught in fundiism. Why don't you take the scriptures Merlin gave and present them to your fundie preacher, if you have one by now, and see what he says. Ask and ye shall receive, be it whatever perverse teaching it may be under God's blue skies.

Secular humanists believe anyone who believes in God is a fundie, even Methodists, believe it or not.

hmmmm.... in my experience, fundies don't like being called fundies... and that a sure sign they are one - when they object.

GOD DOES NOT HEAR THE PRAYERS OF THE UNSAVED

Argue with the scriptures from your own bible:

Isaiah 59:2 “But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.”

Proverbs 15:29 “The LORD is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous.”

Proverbs 1:28-33
“Then they will call to me but I will not answer;they will look for me but will not find me.Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord,Since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke. They will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes. For the waywardness of the simple will kill them,And the complacency of fools will destroy them; But whoever listens to me will live in safetyAnd be at ease, without fear of harm.”

Proverbs 28:9
If anyone turns a deaf ear to the law, even his prayers are detestable.

Zechariah 7:13
When I called, they did not listen; so when they called, I would not listen. Says the Lord Almighty.

I don't care if either of you have heard the topic preached in your so-called "church."  I don't care if either of you have discovered it on your own.

It's in your bible.

Is this more of your Burger King Theology, hiram?  Still trying to have it your way?  Still trying to ignore the cruelties and absurdities and errors of your scriptures?

Tough.  It's there, so deal with it.

M.

The scriptures are fine, it's your interpretation of them that are screwy.
