Scoot, little conservative running dog. It's time for your weekly huff-off.

Hey, Merlin!
The people in Miami are pretty, but dumb.

I already saw that one, and it's pretty much true.
I have talked to nurses and asked them how smart the majority of people who come into ERs are, and they tell me they're worse than imbeciles. I know the people driving here are so stupid they scare me. And the elderly are an embarassment to the entire state.
& you want stupid? Come and watch the idiots I go to college with. One of them actually didn't know that America has a space shuttle. Another one asked a professor "is it true that if you take steroids, yo peanuts fall off?" Yes, they are stupid. Shit-eating, moronic stupid. They make me crazy.
I'm sure there are smart people here and there but I don't know more than a handful of them.
As far as pretty people, maybe they're showing their asses down on South Beach, because all I see are normal-looking folks.
The difference in my and carol's reaction is that I'm perfectly capable of agreeing with what I know to be the truth, but I don't take kindly to some fatass conservative talking head trying to tell lies about where I live.
Still, according to all the conservative mouthpieces, the inside of a porta-potty is still better than Chicago.

I think it was Thomas Edison who said "Invention is 10% inspiration and 90% persperation." Whoever it was, it's also applicable to intellect.
The bulk of the difference between smart and dumb isn't brain capacity, it's a willingness to go through the effort of learinging things. Honestly, keeping informed on things is hard work. I know I don't make the full effort I should. It's just easier to keep on with the whole "they say" knowledge base.

Who? Me? You're the one huffin' and puffin' (as usual). You really need to learn how to lighten up.

Hmmm, which one of us leaves AARM every few days? Me? Why, no, I believe that would be YOU.
I may be many things, carol, but I'm not stupid because of laziness.
Did you happen to read WingedBeast's post? If not, you might want to check it out.
Or, go smoke pot and eat cookies because facts are too much for your brain to handle. That's probably easier for you to do than refuting what I said about your taxes NOT paying for the Olympics.

Find out how you got the Bible Carole. That was what did it for me. It had nothing to do with being duped by "bad" evangelicals in my case. I was curious, I searched, and I discovered. That is how I left the "faith." But I know you won't because you are much too comfortable where you are - just believe what it says, and never dare find out about the source and the transmission. "How we got the bible" is no mystery to me, Yoki. The Synod of Carthage, in 397, canonized the 27 books of the New Testament. These books had already been read for 3 centuries at that point.

Yeah, Carol - Great research. You forget my many prolific years on CARM's Catholic board. So what is it about the way we got our bible that caused you to lose the faith?

Yes, it was Thomas who said that. That guy used to sweat a lot. One time he asked to borrow my jacket and I told him "No way!!! I don't want your body liquids oozing all over my corduroy!!!" Henry Ford was a prolific perspirer as well. In contrast, Alexander Graham Bell didn't sweat much but he was always picking his nose.

Don't you recognize sarcasm when you read it from me Carol?
Why should I write a treatise about how we got the bible, when it would be a complete waste of time for your eyes.
However, if you want to chew over the fact that you accept only this council's selection of NT books, but not its selection of OT books, then that might be a little exercise for you.
