The story I am hearing is there is a small group of people who want to peacefully talk here.

There is another small group of people who live to be disruptive on the boards.

The only solution I can think of is to separate the two groups.

Somebody figure out who wants to be in Group A and who wants to be in Group B.  Group A will not be able to see the forums of have discussions with members of Group B, and vice versa.  There will be two different areas on the forums for these two groups of people.  No one will be allowed to be members of both groups.  I will leave one forum open where both groups can post, but I will not listen to any complaints regarding that one co-ed forum.

I have locked down any new forum registrations, so this is restricted only to current members.  People will not be able to suddenly make a lot of new user accounts and slip through the cracks.

You guys figure out where you want to be in Group A or Group B.  Come up with a list and send it to me, and I will separate you like the unruly children you have been acting like lately.

John

Are you channelling Matt Slick?

Your stated aim was to create boards that had no, or minimal, moderation. How has AARM become so 'unruly' of late that people need to be separated?

Easy. Everybody is in group A.

I am very opposed to segregation. You can create boards to your liking, but I won't be part of such megalomania.

Group A and Group B forums will not work because I think everyone will be posting at the co-ed forum, regardless.

....but if I had to choose, I'd go with Group A....even though I have no idea who will be in that group yet.  And I'm only choosing Group A because that is the first letter of the alphabet, among other reasons:  :P

A+
Ace in the hole
A Great Group
A Better Deal
"A" my name is Andy and I like Apples
A Positive Outcome
A unie who likes the letter A because it looks like it points up to God in heaven

Yep, everyone in Group A...sounds simple enough to me!

Look, the complaints I am getting are that certain members are so disruptive that other members cannot have a discussion whatsoever.

So, you guys segregate yourself, or not.  Just post in the co-ed forum if you don't want separation, but don't bitch to me if you do.

If you feel someone is in Group A that belongs in Group B.  Let me know.  If someone is in Group B that you want in Group A.  We will put it to a vote.

Group B are those who I have received consistent complaints that they have been disruptive.

John

I'd say then segregate the complainers. Sheesh! We are all adults here. If we don't like what others say or do, then we can do many things:

1. Contact the person acting offensively and ask him/her to cut it out.

2. Ignore the offensive poster (a vastly underutilized technique).

3. Move spammers' threads flooding the boards to one board where these threads only compete against each other (as I have done with hiram's posts, and it worked).

4. Grow a thick skin.

Two points:

If somebody makes offensive posts about you, realize that the posts say more about the poster than about you.

A board that is all lovey-dovey is boring.

some boards - yuku comes to mind - have an "Ignore" button available for each userid where any user can hide all of anyone else's posts from thier view .. .. good idea that, self-moderation . .  except, of course, you'll never know what someone might be saying about you ;)

You've got to be fucking kidding me John. I was looking for a discussion that Aldaron and I were having and you've obviously moved it to a forum neither of us can see. Where the fuck do you get off by moving MY posts to a forum I can't see anymore? Or for that matter Aldaron's topic to a forum he can't see or respond in?

What a fucking load of bullshit - what's the point of this forum if you're just going to start dividing members into groups? Not to mention disrupting the ongoing discussions by moving them where we can’t view or respond to them!

I don't live to be disruptive on the boards, and nor do most of us. You're full of shit. We may as well just start a new forum.

Look, the complaints I am getting are that certain members are so disruptive that other members cannot have a discussion whatsoever.

John

You're full of shit. All you needed to do was add the ability to "ignore user". Instead you've gone for the invasive rout. WHY THE FUCK CAN'T I CONTINUE THE DISCUSSIONS I WAS HAVING THAT ARE NOW HIDDEN??? Why does "group B" get those discussions???

I vote that we make Belvedere the official AARM spokesperson.

Y'know, that's not a bad idea.  What better way to represent AARM than with a spokesperson who constantly argues with himself!

If Group B is for Naughty boys and girls why am I listed as Group B for the Forum Societal, Political, Entertainment, Computers, Science
but for Group A Everywhere else? If there was a complaint against me I do not see how it could have been on this particular topic/area.

Group B is no longer for naughty boys and girls.  Group B is simply for Sneetches without stars.
