I'm getting in shape for ski season.  I dropped 40 pounds this year, then gained back 5 pounds of (mostly) muscle, and now I'm working on losing another 10 pounds while preserving muscle mass.  Can't wait to hit the slopes!

Good for you. That's gotta be tricky to lose more weight while retaining muscle. Do you take suppliments or anything? Creatin and what not? Do you remember me?

Of course I remember you!  You're the only one who calls me the answer man.  :)

When I lost 40 pounds, a fair amount of it was muscle because I cut back too much on the calories, and didn't do enough resistance training.  Still, it was nice being able to get into much smaller clothes.

The trick to retaining muscle is to lose weight slowly, and work every muscle group hard at least once a week (or so I'm told).  As for supplements, I'm drinking protein shakes and eating protein bars on the days I do resistance training, along with a multi-vitamin, glucosamine/chondroitin, and calcium citrate.  No creatine yet.

Yeah it's important not to lose too quickly. I hear it's bad for your heart.

It's good to see you here. Idk where you stand politically but i'd be interested in seeing your participation in some of these threads.

Meh, I need to stop eating so much. I have an active job so I don't gain easily, but it's still not healthy. Gluttony is one my favorite deadly sins, but fortunately, it's trumped by pride, which prevents me from becoming like Baron Harkonnen

:D What, you'd rather be The Beast, Raban?  Or maybe Feyd.

Thinking of ol' Vladomir eventually brought this to mind.  (As I am wont to say, "My brain has a mind of its own.")

I remember you!  You're the only right-leaning atheist in the world!

(I actually know plenty of right-leaning atheists, but IRL, not here.)

I used to be "I_am_a_C" then Josh, and now I'm J2R, btw...

I don't think I would describe myself as "right-leaning".  I'm more of a liberal with libertarian tendencies.

My mistake.  I seem to remember you speaking of Reagan in highly positive terms (might be wrong about that) and that's probably what made me think you might be rightish.

A lot of people liked Reagan. I think he was a good president.

YO: Mwahaha... yeah, Feyd Rautha is pretty cool. I'm actually stuck halfway through "Dune," where Paul and Jessica are lost in the desert and just encountered the Fremen. It's gotten really boring and I've lost interest, but I might pick it up again after I finish up "Death Note."
